B2W alternative

b2w alternative

SmartCrew is a b2w alternative for heavy civil and dirtwork companies with about 10 to 100 field employees. B2W, now part of Trimble, is estimating, scheduling, field logs, and equipment maintenance as separate products on one database. SmartCrew is one phone app for GPS time, job cost, machines, haul tickets, and daily reports. It does not estimate.

B2W (Trimble) doesn't list: clock in/out reminders, AI reader for tickets & receipts, leads & sales pipeline, follow-ups & reminders, job-specific chat channels, company announcements, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), file sharing & permissions.

No: they do not offer it. Their own website says so, or it isn’t in the full feature list they publish (linked). Add-on: a paid add-on, a separate product or a higher plan. Limited: they have something close but narrower. Not listed (n/l on small screens): we searched their site and help pages and couldn’t find it, but they don’t publish a full list we could check.

This chart is SmartCrew’s feature list, so it doesn’t show what other products do that SmartCrew doesn’t (like estimating, payroll or hardware time clocks). Each comparison covers that in “where they’re the better pick”. SmartCrew’s Fleet Management, Sales CRM, and Scheduling & Communications are Premium categories; feature availability varies by plan.

Where each mark comes from

The short version

  • B2W Estimate, B2W Schedule, B2W Track, the Employee App, B2W Maintain, and B2W Field View are the products named on Trimble's B2W page.
  • SmartCrew does not do estimating, takeoff, site planning, payroll processing, machine control, telematics, or geofencing.
  • B2W Track records labor, materials, and equipment hours on electronic field logs. SmartCrew records the same day from a GPS clock-in.
  • A sales CRM is not listed on the B2W product page checked November 2026. SmartCrew Sales CRM is Premium.
  • Neither side publishes a list price on the pages checked. SmartCrew pricing is a number on a call with Andrew.

What a b2w alternative is standing in for

Trimble describes B2W as unified software for heavy construction estimating, operations, and equipment maintenance. The products are still named one by one. Estimate holds the cost library and the bid. Schedule puts labor, equipment, materials, and trucking on jobs. Track is the field log. Maintain is the shop. Field View is forms and alerts.

That is a real heavy civil set. A company that bids in B2W Estimate, dispatches in B2W Schedule, and closes the day in B2W Track is using the product the way Trimble drew it. The Employee App is there for people who are not on a crew log.

A b2w alternative for a 25 or 60 person company is a different shape. You may not want six product names. You want the operator to clock in, pick the machine, pass a DOT inspection, log the load, and send the daily report before he leaves the pit.

Who a b2w alternative fits

Pick SmartCrew if

  • You run about 10 to 100 field employees on heavy civil or dirtwork, with your own crews and iron.
  • You want one phone for GPS time tracking, live crew locations, job costing, equipment hours, DOT inspections, daily reports, and haul tickets.
  • You will keep estimating in B2W Estimate, HeavyBid, AGTEK, InSite, or a spreadsheet.
  • You want Sales CRM, scheduling, and crew chat in the same login, on the Premium categories.
  • You want QuickBooks Online, not a full construction ERP, as the books.

Pick B2W if

  • You want estimating, operations, and maintenance from Trimble, on one database.
  • Dispatch of labor, equipment, materials, and trucking is the office job, and B2W Schedule is built for that screen.
  • You already live in a construction ERP and you want the field log to share data with it.
  • You are larger than about 100 people, or you want a vendor that says it scales to the biggest civil contractors.

The field day, without a second login

B2W Track is a strong field log. Trimble says it collects labor, materials, equipment hours, and field resource requests, with analysis so you can adjust the job. That is the same question we ask: did today beat the bid?

SmartCrew gets there from the clock-in. GPS time tracking lands labor on the job and the cost code. The machine picked at clock-in lands equipment hours. The hauling log lands the load. The daily report lands the photos. You enter the bid budget once. The job page shows revenue, expenses, and profit.

The phone asks for project, activity code, and equipment. The job page shows profit against the budget. Demo data.

DOT inspections, maintenance, and the shop queue sit with the machine, not in a telematics box. We do not sell machine control, telematics hardware, or geofencing. If you need a fence around the pit or an OEM feed from the dozer, B2W and HCSS document those. We do not.

Scheduling, chat, and the bid you are not in yet

B2W Schedule is the piece a dispatcher will recognize: labor, equipment, materials, and trucking, with role-based access. SmartCrew scheduling is drag-and-drop crews and equipment, plus dispatch alerts when the plan changes. It is a Premium category, along with crew chat.

Sales is the gap on the B2W pages we checked in November 2026. Estimate manages the bid you decided to price. It does not list a lead pipeline or follow-up reminders. SmartCrew Sales CRM does: leads, bids, and follow-ups. It still does not build the estimate. Read dirt work software with crm if that is the search.

SmartCrew hauling log on a phone: date, truck, project, import or export, the pit the load came from and notes

The sales pipeline for bids you have not won, and a haul ticket on the phone. Demo data.

Safety forms in SmartCrew are JSAs, toolbox talks, and incident reports. B2W points toolbox talks and accident forms at Field View. File storage in SmartCrew is plans and job documents with permissions. On B2W, what we could confirm is attachments on the field log.

QuickBooks Online is integrated with SmartCrew today. Trimble has an article on QuickBooks with B2W for estimating and operations. That article does not, on the page we used, say whether the link is QuickBooks Online or Desktop. Ask Trimble before you assume it matches your file.

Other alternatives next to B2W

B2W sits with the heavy civil suites, not with the time clocks. These are the neighboring pages.

  1. HCSS, the other suite built only for heavy civil. See the hcss alternative and the longer HeavyJob comparison.
  2. HeavyBid, if you only needed the estimating half. See the hcss heavybid alternative.
  3. Procore and Raken, if the buyer is a general contractor or a daily-report crew.
  4. All-in-one heavy civil software and heavy civil construction software for the mid-size company, including one with about 45 people.

Switching from B2W, or pairing with it

You do not have to throw away B2W Estimate to use SmartCrew. A lot of companies should not.

  1. Leave the bid in B2W Estimate if it is working

SmartCrew does not replace estimating. Enter the won budget on the job.

  2. Move the crew day

Clock-ins, machines, DOT inspections, haul tickets, and daily reports. Our team migrates jobs, cost codes, and equipment and trains the crew.

  3. Decide on the shop

If B2W Maintain is running your shop, keep it. If the shop is a whiteboard, SmartCrew's service queue may be enough. It is not telematics.

  4. Add the office pieces

Scheduling, dispatch alerts, crew chat, and Sales CRM when you want them. Most companies are up within a few weeks.

Questions people ask

What is a b2w alternative for heavy civil?

For a company with about 10 to 100 field employees, SmartCrew is a b2w alternative for the field: GPS time tracking, job costing, equipment hours, DOT inspections, daily reports, and haul tickets. B2W remains the better pick if you want Trimble estimating plus operations plus maintenance as the whole purchase.

Does B2W include estimating?

Yes. B2W Estimate is heavy construction estimating and bidding. SmartCrew does not estimate, take off, or do site planning. Keep B2W Estimate, HeavyBid, or your current takeoff tool.

Does SmartCrew replace B2W Track?

It can replace the field log for crews that will clock in on a phone: labor, machine, loads, and the daily report, with profit against the budget you type in. It does not replace B2W Estimate, and it does not claim B2W's ERP links.

Is there a sales CRM in B2W?

We could not find a leads pipeline or follow-up CRM on the B2W pages checked in November 2026. B2W Estimate handles bids. SmartCrew Sales CRM is a Premium category for leads, bids, and follow-ups, and it still does not build the estimate.

How much does B2W cost compared with SmartCrew?

Trimble does not list a B2W price on the product page checked November 2026. SmartCrew starts at $99/month. Contact us for team pricing.

Does a b2w alternative do telematics or geofencing?

SmartCrew does not. It tracks GPS clock-ins, live crew locations, and equipment hours the operator reports. B2W's Track documents mention location and telematics in places. If you need hardware in the cab, ask Trimble. Do not expect it from us.
