Jobber does not offer: pick the machine at clock-in, change orders & extras, maintenance tracking, service requests from the field, utilization rates, digital hauling tickets, deliveries & production tracking, company announcements, toolbox talks & safety meetings, incident reports. Jobber doesn't list these either: shop queue, automatic daily reports for the office.

No: they do not offer it. Their own website says so, or it isn’t in the full feature list they publish (linked). Add-on: a paid add-on, a separate product or a higher plan. Limited: they have something close but narrower. Not listed (n/l on small screens): we searched their site and help pages and couldn’t find it, but they don’t publish a full list we could check.

This chart is SmartCrew’s feature list, so it doesn’t show what other products do that SmartCrew doesn’t (like estimating, payroll or hardware time clocks). Each comparison covers that in “where they’re the better pick”. SmartCrew’s Fleet Management, Sales CRM, and Scheduling & Communications are Premium categories; feature availability varies by plan.

Where each mark comes from

The short version

  • Jobber is built for service businesses that quote, schedule and invoice lots of small jobs. SmartCrew is built for heavy civil crews.
  • Jobber's regular monthly list prices run from $49 for one user on Core to $699 for 15 users on Plus, and extra users are $29 a month. Teams of 16 or more are sent to sales.
  • Time tracking starts on Connect, job costing and automatic timers on Grow, and crew scheduling on Plus.
  • Jobber is the better pick for quotes, online booking, two-way texting, customer payments and a big app marketplace.
  • We couldn't find cost codes, equipment maintenance, DOT inspections, haul tickets or change orders on Jobber's pages.

Jobber is better for service businesses. SmartCrew is built for dirtwork.

Jobber says more than 100,000 businesses in over 50 industries, including landscaping, plumbing, cleaning and contracting, use it. For those service businesses, Jobber is the better pick.

SmartCrew is built for one thing: heavy civil and dirtwork contractors with 5 to 100 employees. Excavation, grading, sitework, underground utilities, paving, road construction, demolition, septic, directional drilling and land clearing. That's all we do.

Where Jobber falls short on a dirtwork job:

  • Cost codes aren't listed. Its timesheets track hours against a job or visit, or as general time.
  • Your machines aren't on its pages. We didn't find equipment hours, maintenance or a shop queue. GPS on equipment means a partner tracker like FleetSharp, with its own subscription.
  • Not listed: DOT inspections, haul tickets or change orders.
  • Built for 15 users or fewer. Crew scheduling is on Plus at $699 a month for 15 users, and teams of 16 or more go to sales.

What Jobber is, and who it's for

Jobber is field service software for home and commercial service businesses. It says it backs blue collar business owners from a crew of one to companies of hundreds. In May 2026 it passed 100,000 customers in more than 50 industries, like landscaping, plumbing, cleaning and contracting.

Everything in Jobber starts with a customer. A request comes in, a quote goes out, the visit gets scheduled and the invoice gets paid. It's very good at that loop, and it even runs an excavation page.

Jobber is built for the customer side of a service business. If your excavation work is mostly small jobs for homeowners, that can fit. Once you're running crews and machines on bigger jobs for weeks at a time, the things you need to track change.

How much does Jobber cost?

Jobber publishes its prices by plan and by how many users are included. These are the regular monthly prices from its pricing page on October 26, 2026, which we checked in a browser for each team size. Jobber was also showing an introductory offer for new customers that ends October 30, 2026, and it sells annual prepaid plans for less. Promotions change, so check the page for what you'd pay today.

Core$49Not offeredNot offeredNot offeredQuotes, invoices, online booking and payments, reporting
Connect$139$199$299$399Time and expense tracking, QuickBooks Online sync, checklists, automatic reminders and follow-ups
Grow$199$299$399$499Automatic time tracking (location timers), job costing, two-way texting
PlusNot offered$499$599$699Crew scheduling, custom reports, Pipeline, receipt capture, unlimited photos and videos

Extra users are $29 a month each. Teams of 16 or more are sent to sales. Add-ons: Receptionist $29, Pipeline $49 and Marketing Suite $99 a month. Card payments are 2.9% + 30¢. Source: Jobber pricing, read in a browser October 26, 2026. Prices and promotions change.

The plan ladder matters more than the sticker. Time tracking arrives on Connect. Job costing and automatic timers need Grow. Crew scheduling, custom reports and the AI receipt reader need Plus. So a crew that wants time, job cost and a crew schedule is looking at Plus.

SmartCrew starts at $99/month, and it's built to be well below the cost of enterprise construction software. Contact us for team pricing.

The key difference: built for customers vs built for crews, iron and loads

Jobber is built around the customer and the visit. SmartCrew is built around the crew, the machine and the load. Both are fair ways to build software. They're for different businesses, and here's where that shows up.

Customers vs crews

Jobber's tools face the customer: online booking, quotes, automatic reminders, two-way texting and card payments. Its time tracking follows the visit too. Its location timers use a geofence around the client's property to start and stop a visit timer. Jobber says they need an internet connection and are not meant as an employee tracking service.

A grading crew isn't visiting a client. It's on one job for weeks, moving between activities and machines. That's the day SmartCrew is built for.

Hours by cost code and machine

Jobber's timesheets track hours against a job or visit, or as general time like travel. We didn't find cost codes, or a way to pick the machine. Its GPS records a waypoint when someone takes an action in the app.

In SmartCrew the operator picks the project, the activity code and the machine at clock-in, with GPS on the punch and live crew locations for the office. The timecards come out payroll-ready.

Iron and the shop

We couldn't find equipment hours, maintenance, service requests or a shop queue on Jobber's site. For location, it connects to partner trackers like FleetSharp, which are separate devices with their own subscription. Its checklists can serve as an inspection form.

SmartCrew keeps each machine's hours, mileage, service dates and DOT inspection log. Keep your machines moving. A problem reported from the field goes straight into the shop queue.

Trucks and loads

Jobber records expenses against a job with a photo of the receipt, and on Plus its AI fills in the receipt details. We couldn't find haul tickets there. In SmartCrew every load is a ticket with the truck, project, material, yards and the pit, and the AI reader enters it from a photo.

Knowing your profit every day

Jobber's job costing on Grow and Plus shows profit and margin against the job's price. That fits a fixed-price visit. We didn't find a bid budget or change orders. SmartCrew shows budget against actual cost for labor, materials, equipment, other costs and change orders, every day the job runs.

SmartCrew service queue: equipment problems reported from the field with who reported them, when, urgency and repair status
SmartCrew hauling log on a phone: date, truck, project, import or export, the pit the load came from and notes

Two things we couldn't find on Jobber's pages: a shop queue for machine problems, and haul tickets logged from the truck. (Demo data.)

Jobber vs the other field service apps

Jobber and QuoteIQ are field service and quoting apps. They're built for businesses that quote, schedule and invoice lots of small jobs, and they're good at the customer side. Here's how both line up against SmartCrew's full feature list, marked from each company's own pages. Add-on means Jobber lists it on a higher plan or as a paid extra.

Feature chartSmartCrew vs field service and quoting apps

Built for service businesses that quote, schedule and invoice lots of small jobs. Good at the customer side, not the crew, machine and haul side of heavy civil work.

Where each mark comes from

When Jobber still makes sense

Jobber makes sense when the customer is the busy part of your day.

Pick SmartCrew if

  • Your crews spend weeks on the same job, and you need hours by cost code and machine.
  • You run excavators and trucks and want DOT inspections, maintenance and a shop queue.
  • You haul, and you want every load ticket logged with yards and the pit.
  • You bid jobs and want profit against the bid while there's still time to fix it.
  • You have 5 to 100 employees and want crew chat, toolbox talks and incident reports in the same app.

Pick Jobber if

  • You're a landscaping, plumbing, cleaning or other service business running lots of small customer jobs.
  • Most of your work is small jobs for homeowners or businesses: a quote, a visit, an invoice.

The best Jobber alternatives in 2026

If you like Jobber's customer side and just want a different price, look at another field service app. If your problem is crews and iron, you need a different kind of software.

  1. SmartCrew, for dirtwork and heavy civil companies with 5 to 100 employees that run crews, machines and trucks. That's us, so weigh this pick with that in mind.
  2. QuoteIQ, another field service app, built by home service contractors, from $29.99 a month for one user. See QuoteIQ vs SmartCrew.
  3. Contractor Foreman, a low-cost all-in-one for general, trade and service contractors, with a flat company price by user tier. See Contractor Foreman vs SmartCrew.
  4. JobTread, if you're a builder who wants estimates, budgets and customer invoices in one plan. See JobTread vs SmartCrew.
  5. ClockShark, a time tracking and scheduling app for construction and field service teams. See ClockShark vs SmartCrew.

Jobber's CRM is for service visits. Dirt work software with a crew behind the lead is dirt work software with crm, and the suite comparison is the hcss alternative.

Switching from Jobber

You don't have to give up what Jobber does for your customers. You can keep quoting and invoicing there and run the crew side in SmartCrew. Both connect to QuickBooks Online.

  1. Keep the customer side if it works

If your quotes and payments run well in Jobber, leave them there. Move the crew, the machines and the loads.

  2. We set up your crews, jobs and machines

Our team sets up your account, moves your information over and organizes your workflows. Then we train your people.

  3. Start with the clock-in

Your guys clock in by job, activity code and machine. The office sees live crew locations from day one.

  4. Add inspections, loads and job costing

DOT inspections, haul tickets, daily reports and job profit come next. Most companies are up and running within a few weeks.

Questions people ask

Is Jobber good for excavation companies?

For quoting, scheduling and invoicing small residential jobs, yes, and it runs an excavation page. We couldn't find cost codes, equipment maintenance, DOT inspections or haul tickets on its pages, and most excavation crews track those every day. SmartCrew is built only for dirtwork and heavy civil companies with 5 to 100 employees.

How much does Jobber cost for a crew of 15?

On October 26, 2026, Jobber's regular monthly list price for 15 users was $399 on Connect, $499 on Grow and $699 on Plus. Job costing starts on Grow and crew scheduling on Plus. Jobber was also running an introductory offer, so check its pricing page for today's price.

Does Jobber have cost codes?

We couldn't find cost codes on Jobber's site. Its timesheets track hours against a job or visit, or as general time. In SmartCrew the worker picks the project, the activity code and the machine at clock-in.

Can Jobber track heavy equipment?

Jobber connects to partner GPS trackers like FleetSharp for location, which are separate devices with their own subscription. We didn't find equipment hours, maintenance or a shop queue on its site. SmartCrew tracks machine hours, service, inspections and repair requests.

Does Jobber track time automatically?

On Grow and up, Jobber's location timers start and stop a visit timer using a geofence around the client's property. Its help center says they need an internet connection and aren't meant as an employee tracking service.

Why does Jobber's pricing page show lower prices than this page?

On October 26, 2026, Jobber's page was showing introductory prices for new customers, with an offer ending October 30, 2026, and lower prices for annual prepaid plans. We list the regular monthly prices because promotions change.

Does SmartCrew replace Jobber?

For the crew, the machines and the job's cost, yes. SmartCrew is built for the crew side of a heavy civil company. If online booking and card payments are a big part of your business, you can keep Jobber for that.
